A watchlist organises instruments; a candlestick chart and timeframe selector describe price history. The order ticket contains type, volume, Stop Loss and Take Profit. Margin, open positions and trade history show exposure after an order is placed.

Razor’s headline commission is quoted in US dollars. On Pepperstone’s own platform, one standard FX lot costs US$3.50 per side: US$7 for the open-and-close commission alone. A non-USD account adds a currency-conversion question, not permission to relabel the amount in AUD.

Pepperstone began in Melbourne in 2010. ABN Lookup records Pepperstone Group Limited as an Australian Public Company, and the broker identifies that company as the holder of AFSL 414530. Its registered office is Level 16, Tower One, 727 Collins Street, Melbourne.

The wider group has companies in several jurisdictions. For an Australian account, check the entity named in the agreement and the protections attached to that classification. A global brand name does not make all group licences or products equivalent.

Is Pepperstone a market maker?

That label alone does not establish how a particular order is handled. The broker describes using multiple liquidity providers. Its client agreement and disclosure documents are the relevant sources for counterparty and execution arrangements; we have not independently tested order routing or execution quality.

Expiry rules: supplied August 2026 source dossier. Check current conditions with the broker.

The August 2026 sources use different balance descriptions: the website says the virtual balance is unlimited, while the app listing then described US$50,000. These are source descriptions, not cash offered to you. That dossier also records non-expiring demos for clients with an approved, funded live account; confirm eligibility with the broker.

The Australian retail framework

Protection has limits.
So does leverage.

ASIC’s rules constrain the product. They do not protect you from normal market losses.

Small and large glass cubes on a lever
Exposure is not the same as the cash committed. Conceptual AI illustration; not a scale diagram.
Margin close-out50%

Watch equity against required margin.

The broker must close positions when account funds fall below 50% of the margin required for open trades. This is a margin ratio, not a promise that only half your deposit can be lost. A fast market can change execution outcomes.

See all retail limits

Leverage is exposure, not a deposit bonus.

The Australian retail ceiling is 30:1 on major FX pairs, falling to 20:1, 10:1, 5:1 or 2:1 for other categories. The framework took effect on 29 March 2021 under ASIC instrument 2020/986. Higher exposure magnifies adverse moves as well as favourable ones.

Client money is kept separate.

Pepperstone states that retail funds are held in segregated bank accounts, separate from its operating money. Segregation is not insurance against trading losses or a guarantee of full repayment if the company fails.

Retail and Pro are different arrangements.

The broker states that negative retail balances are restored to zero. Professional and Pepperstone Pro clients do not have the same protection. Pro eligibility can mean different leverage and fewer retail safeguards.

Read the denominator.

ASIC’s report was published on 20 January 2026 and includes A$73 million in fees within net retail losses. These figures are not a broker-specific score. The separate 74–89% range in the broker’s August disclosure is global. Neither should be presented as a forecast for an individual.

Client area ≠ trading terminal

Pepperstone login.
Know where you are.

The Secure Client Area manages your profile, identity documents, trading accounts, deposits and withdrawals. The trading terminal is where you analyse markets and place orders. These are connected services with different jobs, and trading-account credentials can differ from your client-area password.

Use the broker’s official address for password recovery and enable two-factor authentication where available. We do not provide a sign-in form, request passwords or handle client money. Check the selected server and whether an account is demo or live before entering terminal credentials.

03

Manage money and documents

Request withdrawals in the client area. Identity checks must be complete; funds normally return through the original payment route.

Money in / Money out

The payment route
has its own rules.

A $0 account-opening minimum is different from a payment-method minimum, and both are different from the margin needed to trade.

Most cards & wallets

From A$10

Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Neteller, Skrill and PayID are listed with immediate deposit processing.

BPAY

Up to 1 day

A$10 minimum; allow up to one business day for the deposit to be processed.

Domestic bank transfer

No minimum

The broker lists up to seven business days for deposits. Check bank and provider charges separately.

Pepperstone lists no broker deposit fee for these methods. Your bank or payment provider may charge separately. A withdrawal request is made in the client area, normally follows the funding route and depends on identity checks and available funds. Margin supporting open positions is not the same as withdrawable cash.

The current costs table lists crypto differently from the historic funding dossier. We do not carry forward the old A$18 crypto minimum as a current promise. Check the methods actually offered to your account before sending money.

Before you decide

The questions
that matter.

Specific answers.
Australian retail context.

Is Pepperstone regulated in Australia?

Yes. Pepperstone Group Limited holds AFSL 414530 under ASIC supervision. ABN Lookup records it as an Australian Public Company, ACN 147 055 703, with ABN 12 147 055 703 active since 27 October 2010. The Australian entity is the relevant starting point for an Australian client; a licence held by another group company is not interchangeable.

What does it cost to trade with Pepperstone?

Razor combines a raw spread with commission on margin FX and spot gold. The broker’s own platform lists US$3.50 per standard FX lot per side: US$7 to open and close one lot, before spread and other charges. Standard adds its FX cost to the spread. Australian share CFDs can carry commission on either account. Platform, instrument, currency and holding time all matter.

How much leverage can I use?

For Australian retail clients, the limits are 30:1 for major FX pairs; 20:1 for minor pairs, gold and major indices; 10:1 for other commodities and minor indices; 5:1 for shares and other underlying assets; and 2:1 for cryptocurrencies. Pro classification can allow higher limits but removes retail-only protections. It is not simply a settings upgrade.

Can I lose more than I deposit?

Pepperstone states that retail clients receive negative balance protection and that a negative account is restored to zero. Pro and professional clients do not receive the same protection. Retail margin close-out applies around 50% of required margin, but a stop or close-out rule does not guarantee an execution price, prevent every loss or make trading safe.

Do most people make money trading CFDs?

No. ASIC REP 828 reports that 68% of retail clients in its FY2023–24 industry data lost money, with net losses of A$458 million including fees. Those are industry figures, not a Pepperstone-specific loss rate. The broker’s August 2026 global disclosure separately gives a 74–89% loss range. Neither dataset supports treating demo success as evidence of future returns.

The independent view

Then explore the interface.

The licence, fee schedule and retail protections are specific things you can inspect. Awards and headline user counts are the broker’s claims. A demo can help you understand the tools; it cannot validate a trading strategy or remove the risk of a live account.
